Happy Birthday Prayer for Travis

Lord Jesus, today is my boy’s birthday. Well, You know, he’s not really mine, but Yours. And he’s not really a boy—but a man. A fine, smart, strong, man.  A man who had to grow up fast. Too fast.

As You know, life hit him hard, while he was still, just a boy.

His friend, perhaps his best friend, one of his only friends, at the time, his dad; was suddenly, gone. For reasons, even for a man, are hard to understand.

His tender little heart was shattered.

But he grew into a man, got a job and a wife and a child. All was good…until it wasn’t.

Life struck. Again. He lost his best friend; his wife was gone. For reasons, even for a man, are hard to understand.

And in many ways, he lost his child too. Never would he hear the pitter patter of her little feet running to him. Or be overcome with the joy of a great big bear hug, topped with a daddy I love you.

But in ways that matter, he didn’t lose his daughter at all.

Somehow, what was stolen, was turned around. What was meant for evil, Lord Jesus, You used for good.

He’s learned, more than most any man I know, how to love unconditionally. How to lay down his life, for another. For his precious child; Your beautiful child, Kylie, he has lived. Sacrificing himself, for her.

Greater love has no man than this.

What a wonderful picture of what You’ve done, for us.

Lord Jesus, today is his birthday. Thank You, for him. Grant him, a great day, forever.

The world’s a better place, because he was born. Thank You for the honor, and joy, of having him as my son. Forgive me for not being such a great dad. Thank You, for being One, to him.

We look forward to the day, when he will hear the pitter patter of Kylie’s feet running to him, and be overcome with the joy of a great big bear hug, topped with a daddy I love you.

Most of all, we long for that great day, when he will hear You say, “Well done, My good and faithful son, enter into the joy of Lord.” In that Place, where You will wipe away every tear, there will be no more goodbyes, no death, nor sorrow, nor crying, or pain; where You make all things new. Revelation 21:4-5.

Happy birthday Travis, so glad you were born.

I love you, always.
