If those walls could talk, they might
tell of seeing the Jordan parting, and Israel crossing. Perhaps they'd speak of seeing through the acacia trees all the way to Gilgal where a pile of memorial stones
were laid. Would they ask about what in the world was going on next to the hill of
foreskins? Could they see the smoke from the Passover lambs? Did they watch, as
Israel had something besides manna for breakfast, for the first time in decades?
Would they warn of the Man, holding a
sword, and Joshua, beside Him, barefoot and bowed with his face to the ground?
Oh, if only the walls could talk.
What would they say?
Well, actually, they do.
They’ve stepped forward to confirm that what we read in God's Word, is absolutely, True.
Following,
is their testimony:
Joshua 6:5
It shall come to
pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the
sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then
the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man
straight before him.
Archeologists have found that the
walls, fell, outward, making a natural ramp for Joshua and crew to go straight
up, into the city; exactly as the Bible says.
Joshua 6:17 Now the city shall be doomed by the Lord to destruction… 21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city… 24 they burned the city and all that was in it..
Archeological digs reveal, a layer of ash;
evidencing the city was all at once burned.
Additionally, full vessels of grain
were found; revealing the city was utterly destroyed, rather than being inhabited.
All of this confirms, exactly what the
Bible has said.
Now, for my favorite testimony from the wall…
“Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.” Joshua 6:22There’s one part of the outer wall of Jericho,
that did not fall.
What? No way. Really?
Now, Rahab’s name wasn’t etched above the
door. But we know her house was on the outer wall. We know that she, and her
family, were rescued and survived.
Not only was Rahab, the harlot,
rescued, she actually married into the family of Israel. And not only the
family of Israel, but in a move, so characteristic of our Father, who loves the
outcasts, draws near to the brokenhearted, He weaves a harlot, like a golden
thread, into the tapestry of HIStory, and not just the tapestry, but His very
lineage.
Rahab the harlot, is the great, great,
grandmother of king David, ancestor of King of kings, Lord of lord, Jesus
Christ, our Savior, the Lamb of God, that takes away the sins of the world.
Oh, what wonderous, love He has for
you and me.
That day, God kept part of the wall standing to save a harlot and her family. Perhaps, He kept that part of the wall standing, to this day...to save a wretch like me, a soul, like you.
Yes, judgement is coming, indeed walls
are falling, but for all who listen, His voice is calling, and whoever will
heed, can be saved.

Remember, we love you.
Much more importantly,
Jesus loves you, oh so much.
