There’s not one single solitary sign around
here pointing to my hometown in St. Peter Minnesota.
But if I head in the right direction, in about
1,400 miles or so, I’ll start seeing signs. The closer I get to the destination,
the more frequent, and more precise the signs will be.
Currently we’re walking through Genesis on Sunday
and John on Wednesday.
As we entered the Noah’s flood part of
Genesis, we also witnessed and documented in living color, unprecedented, record
breaking, historic floods happening simultaneously, around the globe.
Do you understand the implication of this?
It is not humanly possible to
orchestrate this kind of precise timing.
As we’re studying the biggest flood that ever
happened in the HIStory of the world; floods happen, all around the globe. Not
just any old floods, but the biggest floods in recorded history—well, except
for the one recorded in HIStory, Noah’s flood.
Do not think God caused
those floods as object lessons for our study.
However, He did lead us to be at this specific
place in His Word for such a time as this.
We shouldn’t be surprised. His Word is alive
and powerful and piercing. (Hebrews 4:12).
Do you read His Word as more relevant than this morning’s
news?
Do you heed His Word as more important than the doctor’s prescription?
You may remember how the Lord linked our studies
in Genesis and John by pointing to a few short verses in the little book of Daniel.
(More info. see: Final
Flood Warning).
Daniel 9:25 prophesied to the very day,
Jesus would enter Jerusalem as Messiah; the Passover Lamb. (John 12:12-14).
(More info. see:
The Triumphal Entry).
Daniel 9:26 prophesied that He’d die, the
temple would be destroyed, and a flood of destruction and desolation
would war to the very end. Beware.
Daniel 9:27 warns that the antichrist will make
a seven-year covenant…
That is a sign that the seven-year tribulation has,
or is about to, begin. A seven-year warning, like Noah’s seven-day warning.
(Note: Noah and family were called-up into the ark seven days before
the tribulation of the flood.)
After that, the door shuts, judgement falls.
After seven days the flood began.
After seven years, Armageddon begins.
Jesus comes, not on a donkey, but a white
horse, as King. As Judge. Revelation 19:11-16.
Israel, will recognize Jesus as Messiah. The millennium
will begin (1,000 years of peace, while Jesus rules from Jerusalem—and satan is
bound in the bottomless pit).
Now, speaking of end times, and flooding, and Daniel,
just this week we saw headlines about, Daniel.
CYCLONE DANIEL, deadliest and
costliest Mediterranean tropical cyclone ever recorded
In Greece, Daniel was considered the worst in
recorded history, with severe rainfall leading to flooding that caused more
than two billion euros in damage
Now, check this out:
Daniel was the result of an omega
block; a high-pressure zone sandwiched between two low pressure zones, forming
the shape of the Greek letter, omega, Ω.
Omega, the last letter, the end, of the Greek alphabet.
REVELATION
22:12-13
“Behold, I am
coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he
has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End.”
By the way, did you know:
the tribe of Dan was last tribe to pack up, last to receive
inheritance?
Dan means judge.
Jesus also said speaking of the last days:
MATTHEW 24:37-39
As it was in the
days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days
before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in
marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark. And they were oblivious, unaware,
until the flood came and swept them all away.
That reminds me, did you see these Cyclone Daniel headlines:
About 10,000 Are Missing From the Flooding, With Over 2,000 Bodies Swept Into the Sea
As it was in the days of Noah, so is it…
Lord Jesus, don’t let us be oblivious, to Your obvious, signs right before our eyes.
If we simply follow the Lord’s leading book by
book, verse by verse; He orchestrates the timing, and we can expect Him to confirm
His Word with signs. (Mark 16).
That’s just the introduction, wait ‘til you
see what’s next.
The closer we get to the destination, the more
frequent, and more precise will be the signs.
9:1 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them:
“Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
…
7 And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth
and multiply in it.”
REPLENISH
It is God’s nature is to bless.
The blessing to be fruitful and multiply
is repeated twice; in verse one and verse seven; and is the same blessing He
gave Adam and Eve. Genesis 1:28.
He gives the same blessing, and command, to us
today. Be fruitful and multiply. Make disciples.
2 And the fear of you and the dread of
you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that
move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your
hand. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have
given you all things, even as the green herbs. 4 But you shall not eat
flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
RESTRICTION
The dynamic changes from the blessing given at
the beginning before the flood, to the reality of sin, after the flood.
In the beginning God told Adam and Eve to be
fruitful and multiply and have dominion.
Now, He tells Noah and crew to be fruitful and
multiply…but dominion is adversarial; it only comes by fear and dread.
Something not known before the fall.
God adds animals to man’s menu option, but,
just like in Eden, it comes with a restriction.
In Eden they could eat whatever they wanted
from the Garden—but not from that one tree.
Now, they can eat all the meat they want—but not
the blood.
Perhaps before the flood they witnessed an
evil practice of drinking blood, or eating animals live. So, God tells them,
don’t do that.
Setting blood apart, sets a precedent pointing
to the Blood of The Lamb, that will be shed for the remission of sins.
5 Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning;
from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From
the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.
6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood,
By man his blood shall be shed;
For in the image of God
He made man.
RECKONING
Human governance begins.
The ark survivors were eye witnesses of the
goodness and severity of God.
Noah’s dad, Lamech, was 56 years old before
Adam died. So, he could’ve passed on first hand stories of the beginning, of Eden,
the talking serpent, and the fall.
God cleaned up their mess, and now, in this
new beginning, He tells them it’s time to grow up. This is the start of Noah’s
New World Order.
They need to hold each other accountable. They
indeed are their brother’s keeper.
America’s Founding Father’s gleaned ideas for
government from this chapter. The Bible was their ultimate reference.
God’s Divine Design, regarding family, the sanctity
of life and liberty, is revealed here.
Man’s accountability and responsibility for self-governance
is reflected here.
The idea of Capital Punishment was born here.
Numbers 35:33,
Do not pollute the land where you live, for bloodshed pollutes the land, and no
atonement can be made for the land on which the blood is shed, except by the
blood of the one who shed it.
8 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him,
saying: 9 “And as for Me, behold, I establish My covenant with
you and with your descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that
is with you: the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you, of
all that go out of the ark, every beast of the earth. 11 Thus I establish My
covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters
of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
12 And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant
which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you,
for perpetual generations: 13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it
shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 It shall be,
when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in
the cloud; 15 and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and
every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood
to destroy all flesh. 16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will
look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every
living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah,
“This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all
flesh that is on the earth.”
I
establish My covenant…I set My rainbow… Genesis 9:8-17.
Genesis 9:11 establishes God’s covenant
to never again destroy the earth with a flood.
As a reminder He sets a sign in the sky; and
for the first time in HIStory, a rainbow appears.
Speaking of signs, and Divine timing. Did you
see the double rainbow this past week, over ground zero on 9.11.23?
On 9.11 pictures of rainbows arced over
ground zero, flooded the globe.
And here we are in our study.
A Divinely Timed double reminder, a two-edged
sword; goodness and severity, grace and judgment.
The closer to the end, the more frequent and
precise the signs.
We simply follow the Lord’s leading.
Let’s pray
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your signs, that
help us find our way Home.
We love You, forever.
Amen.
