God is not hiding. He wants you to see Him, know Him, reflect Him, on earth as it is in heaven.
Hebrews 9:1-10, paints a picture of the sanctuary on
earth, as it is in heaven, (verses 11-15).
Please watch this short video of The Tabernacle
The Earthly Sanctuary
On earth...
Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of
divine service (Divinity to humanity) and the earthly sanctuary (humanity
to Divinity).
The first covenant of sacrifices and offerings
reflected heaven to earth, and earth to heaven.
2 For a tabernacle was prepared:
The tabernacle, a dwelling place
for God was prepared. A form of this same word is used when speaking of Jesus
in John 1:14. “The Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled)
among us.”
It’s all about Jesus. Old Testament and New.
A tabernacle was prepared.
As this conversation continues, we’ll hear:
“Sacrifice
and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for
Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—In
the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’ ” Hebrews 10:5-7, quoting Psalm 40:6-8.
A tabernacle, (dwelling place), a temple, (Jesus said,
speaking of His own body, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will
raise it up”). A body was prepared for Jesus, to dwell
in, without sin, and say, “Not My will but Thine be done” and then, willingly
offer His body as the Perfect Sacrifice, once and for all.
...the first part, (of
the tabernacle) in which was the lampstand,
In Revelation 1:20 the lampstand represents the
Church (Ekklesia—the people of Christ). You, dear Church are the light
of the world, a lamp not hid under a basket, but set on a lampstand to
light up the darkness.
the table, and the
showbread, which is called the sanctuary (the
Holy Place); 3 and
behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest
of All (The Most Holy Place), 4 which
had the golden censer
The sweet aroma from the altar of incense would flow continuously
into the Holy of Holies, like the prayers of the saints, Revelation 8:4.
...and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with
gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna, (in
remembrance of God’s provision in the wilderness) Aaron’s
rod that budded (confirming God’s promotion of Aaron—and condemning
complaints against God’s chosen),
and the tablets of the covenant; 5 and above it
were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we
cannot now speak in detail.
They couldn’t speak in detail about those items
because for over 600 years they were nowhere to be found. Nebuchadnezzar
destroyed the temple in 587 BC and carried items from the temple to Babylon.
About forty years before that, King Josiah ordered the
Ark be returned to the temple in Jerusalem, 2 Chronicles 35:3. That was the last mention of the earthly Ark’s location in Scripture.
In 63 BC Roman General Pompey sacked Jerusalem and
marched straight into the Holy of Holies, thinking he’d find priceless
treasure, and was amazed to find it empty.
The Jews said it was because their God was so great He
could not be represented by anything made by the hands of man.
Theories abound about the whereabouts of the Ark. From
Indiana Jones to the book of 2nd Maccabees which states that before Nebuchadnezzar’s
raid, Jeremiah hid the Ark in a cave on Mount Nebo, and that only the Lord
would reveal its location.
Finally, Revelation 11:19, states that the temple
of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was
seen.
6 Now when
these things had been thus prepared, (when everything in
the tabernacle was set up) the priests
always (continuously, daily)
went into the first part (The Holy Place) of the tabernacle, performing the services. 7 But
into the second part (The Most Holy Place) the high priest went alone once a
year, not without blood (and bells), which he offered for himself and for the people’s
sins committed in ignorance;
Only the High Priest went beyond the second veil, and
only once a year, on the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur, (Wed, Oct 1 – Thu,
Oct 2, 2025). On that day, the High Priest, sprinkled blood over the Mercy
Seat, to atone for his own sins, and the sins of the people committed in
ignorance. The Old Covenant had no sacrifice for willful sin.
The High Priest went in with bells, in case he had sin
in his life and dropped over dead in God’s presence. The tinkling of the bells
would indicate he was alive and kicking. If the bells went silent too long,
they’d tug the rope that was tied to his ankle, and if the priest was dead,
they’d pull him out.
8 the Holy
Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet
made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing. 9 It was symbolic
(a
parable, a reflection) for the present time
in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who
performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience— 10 concerned only
with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly
ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.
The Old Covenant dealt with outward ordinances of
purification, but could not cleanse the conscience, the heart.
Jesus puts it like this:
Matthew
23:27. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like
whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full
of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.”
The Heavenly Sanctuary
Now the spotlight swings heavenward.
As it is in heaven.
11 But Christ
came as High Priest of the good things to come, with
the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that
is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of
goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy
Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For
if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling
the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how
much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead
works to serve the living God? 15 And for this
reason He is the Mediator (High Priest, go
between) of the new covenant, by means
of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first
covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the
eternal inheritance.
Did you notice the descriptive words of the Heavenly
Sanctuary?
Good things, greater and more perfect.
But then, something happened.
How could this beautiful, heavenly good, great,
perfect, New Covenant, come to Life, by means of death?
How could something so wonderful be birthed from
something so awful?
The world has been hijacked by satan.
All who reflect heaven threaten him, so he tries to
silence them, cancel them, assassinate them.
Jesus puts it like this: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
who kills the prophets and stone those sent to her, how often I have longed to
gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but
you were unwilling! Look, your house is left to you desolate.” Mt. 23:37-38.
Jesus knew all he had to do was live right and
speak truth and that would trigger satan to murder him.
Current events reflect Biblical prophecy.
One week ago, if I said, “Charlie Kirk, Turning Point
USA” many would've said, "Who's that?"
By the end of the day, there was barely a person on
the planet who didn't know the name of this man who lived right and spoke
truth.
One week ago, a shot was heard around the world. The
report of the rifle was followed by an echo of Charlie's voice preaching the
gospel as multiplied millions around the world googled his name.
Bibles were bought, prayers were prayed, Churches were
filled, Eternal decisions were made.
Charlies were made.
Once again, God has taken what the devil meant for
harm and used it for good.
Once again, He has brought Life, from
death.
Where Jesus laid, there is an empty tomb.
Where Charlie sat, there is an empty chair.
But not in vain. Not in defeat. In place of the empty
tomb and empty chair are multiplied multitudes filled with the passion of
Charlie to pursue the Life of Christ, standing against evil and speaking the
Truth in Love on earth as it is in heaven.
Will you join Him in this fight?
Pray every day.
Read your Bible, every day.
Actively faithfully serve the Bible teaching, praying,
believing, Church you are called to.
Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, help US to get up and go out,
no longer a spectator but a participant, being salt and light, making heaven
crowded. Thank You, Lord.
We love You, forever.
Amen.
