To Do Your Will O God, Hebrews 10:1-18

Hebrews 10:1a
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come and not the very image of the things...

A shadow is proof there’s something of substance casting the shadow. The law was not the real thing but a shadow of the good things to come.

God made the New Covenant by establishing the Old. He tells the end from the beginning. The law, the Old Covenant, was important, because it pointed to the New Covenant. It was a schoolmaster, a teacher, a picture, a preview of the real thing. HIStory foreshadowed the good things to come.

The New Covenant is built on the foundation of the Old.

Jesus said He did not come to abolish the Law but fulfill it. Matthew 5:17.

Thus, we must not cast aside over half of His Bible, we must not ignore HIStory.

To do so we risk having a narrow, shallow and selfish faith, not understanding the significance of sacrifice and blood covenant, not appreciating the Jewish race and Israel. We’ll be unable to answer foundational questions like: Why the cross? Why the blood? Why do we stand with Israel?

Dear Church, we’re called to maturity, understanding, wisdom. The word Jesus used for “Church” is Ekklesia; a people called out to understand, interpret, enforce, carry out, the Word and work of God, to be salt and light, overcomers in this life.

Charlie Kirk is a grand example.

The works of darkness understand the power of knowing HIStory and works hard to make a Biblically illiterate Church and a historically illiterate America. Evil does not want Americans to understand the Biblical foundation this nation is built upon.

Understanding our HIStory creates God honoring, bold, brave, patriots from sea to shining sea.

Our country is in the mess it’s in because the Church sat in the shadows, lazy and ignorant of our responsibility to stand up and speak out, rightly divide the Word of Truth. As beacons of salt and light we are called to love God and hate evil (Psalm 97:10) and have nothing to do with unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them (Ephesians 5:11).

I have come to do Your will oh GOD, with all my understanding.

Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Okay, back to our text...

1 ...can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.

Perfect: Teleioó, from the same word Jesus used when saying, “It is finished!”: Teleó: (Tetelestai): PAID IN FULL!

For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness (guilt/conviction) of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

As good as the Old Covenant was to point to the New and Living Way, it was not good enough, it did not pay in full. We can't ignore it, but we can't live in it.

Those believers back then wanting to turn back to the Old Covenant was not only foolish it was rejecting the New Covenant Christ offered.

Instead of sticking to the Way, the Truth, the Life, Christ Jesus, they wanted to write their own law, do whatever was right in their own eyes. They wanted to migrate into the benefits and blessings of the New Covenant Promise Land without assimilating their old religious thinking and traditions.

Jesus said if you put new wine in old wineskins, they’ll burst, and everything will be ruined. Mark 2:22.

Sometimes it seems antichrist and anti-American globalists understand Biblical principles better than Christians.

“Immigration without assimilation is an invasion,” Charlie Kirk

There’s a group of migrants quickly metastasizing throughout our nation, loving our benefits and blessings, but hating our people and country, refusing to assimilate, demanding we accommodate their old religious thinking and traditions.

Their goal is not to become Americans. Their goal was stated by Barack Hussein Obama; to fundamentally (foundationally) change America. They are here, not to comply but conquer. It reminds me of when the Lamb of God opens the first seal,  And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. Revelation 6:2.

They have metastasized into our government. October 1, 2025, they shut down our government not for the good of we the people of America but to demand 1.5 trillion to fund and give free health care to illegal aliens.

Moses warned the people of Israel, if they turned from worshipping the One and Only True God, that foreign enemies who worship false gods would become their masters.  Muslim Marxist Zohran Mamdani is set to be Mayor of the city that said "Never Forget" after thousands were killed by radical Muslims on 9/11/01.

What I'm saying is not hate speech. It’s love for the Truth regarding the God worshipping, honoring, Biblical principles and foundation this nation is built upon.

Behold I have come to do Your will oh God with all my, worship.

John 4:24, God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:

“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’ ”

He’s quoting David in Psalm 40:6-8.

Our Lord Jesus in His eternal glory saw what He’d have to do before ever saying those powerful words, “Let us make man in our image.” Genesis 1:26.

He was not caught off guard the day Adam and Eve went against His will and broke the only rule. He knew what would happen and still went through with making the human race. Like young couples in love who know there will be struggles and trials and tears, yet still they say, “Let’s have a child.”

In God’s great love He gave us a glimpse through David of a conversation He had long before ever becoming Man (Psalm 40).

He basically said: I don’t care about sacrifices and offerings and religious systems. I just want a relationship with My kids again. However, according to His Divine Justice the only way to restore man, was for man, to pay the penalty for sin. But there was no one worthy to pay such a price, for they all sinned, all fell short. (Romans 3:23).

According to the sacrificial law established by God, the sacrifice for sin had to be without spot or blemish "blameless".

The precedent was set in the Garden.  God told them, don't touch that tree or you'll die.  They did and died. Not physically, but spiritually. His glorious Presence that clothed them, left them.

And there they were, for the very first time, naked, ashamed, afraid and alone.

Because God is Love, He extended mercy and showed up with a new wardrobe, made from animal skins. Something died to cover their nakedness.

The precedent was set. The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23.

So, then, perhaps it went something like this:

Under His own law, and according to His own will, Jesus raised His own hand, and said, “I’ll go. I’ll do it.” Knowing what was in store, He said it still. Knowing His own, those He made, that He loved, that He came to save, would reject Him, spit on Him, mock Him, beat Him, scourge Him, crucify Him. Knowing all that, He nodded and said, “Prepare a Body for Me. I’ll go. For the will of God—” His eyes drifted from heaven to earth “—And for them. I’ll die for them.”

For, it's not God's will for any to perish. 2 Peter 3:9.

So, He put off His Deity and put on humanity. He took on flesh as a man, but was sinless like no man, He died as a man, but rose like no man, and today is seated at the right hand of God and is coming back again for those eagerly wait His appearing.

He paid the price, we never could. He gave His body, so we could become a part of His, The Body of Christ; the family of God, the Bride of Christ, His Church, His Ekklesia.

To accept Him as Lord, is to follow His footsteps. Anyone who wants to come after Me must deny self, take up cross and follow Me. (Matthew 16:24).

Behold I have come to do Your will oh God with all my, worship body.

Romans 12:1-2. As He gave His body, so too must we offer our bodies a living sacrifice which is our reasonable service. We must not be conformed to this world, but renew our minds through His Word of God, that we may prove the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 by that will we have been sanctified (set apart) through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Notice for God it was never about works, but the attitude of the heart.

Our actions and attitude should be saying, Lord, my will is to do Your will. What makes You happy? Our prayers should be more God, less me. What do You think? What should be done? What should be prayed? As a test to see where your prayer life is focused, try praying without referring to yourself, without using the words, I, me, my.

Behold I have come to do Your will O God with all my, will

Psalm 37:4, Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires (will) of your heart.

11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

As we speak, He's sitting, waiting, watching while His enemies are being made His footstool.

The battle is won. He's running out the clock.

He’s patient, He’s waiting, for the last soul to be saved, for it’s not His will for any to perish.

But He must bring it to an end for if the days were not shortened, no flesh would survive (Matthew 24:22). Which is the serpent’s goal. Kill, steal, destroy, until there’s nothing for the Lord to come back for.

15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,

16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Laws in heart and mind, not on stone or scrolls.

Laws on the heart are ruled by the Law of Love.

Finally! The moment God had been waiting for since the separation in the Garden. Relationship restored. Religion no more. Tetelestai, sin debt paid in full.

Test whether you know the Lord personally or just intellectually by the attitude of your heart toward Bible reading, prayer and Church attendance.

Relationship says, “I get to” religion says, “I got to”.

Walking in the love of the Lord is the kind of relationship where you finish each other’s sentence, where you’re thinking something and before you’re done the Lord already answers. When, sins are just as painful for the sinner and the Sanctifier, thus remorse and remission are simultaneous. No offering, no sacrifice needed for the Perfect One has already been made.

Behold, I have come to do Your will O God, with all my love...

Mark 12:30, And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’

Let's pray.

Behold, O God, we have come to do Your will with all of our understanding, worship, body, will and love. Let the words of our mouth and the meditations of our heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, our strength and Redeemer.

We love You, forever.

Amen.
