Aftermath

Aftermath

When the dust settles
The whirlwind of activity calms
The calls and letters quit coming
The cocoon of prayer grows thin
The world spins, as if everything’s back to normal
Then, silence crashes loud
The numb fades
The hurt, the real hurt
The gut wrenching, can’t take another breath, it’ll never end, lonely, hurt, begins

But, in that shadow
Is the place
Where healing begins.

That quiet, painful, place
Is where God resides.
When everyone else is gone
The Healer remains.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed. (Psalm 34:18)
