Formula For Peace In The Midst Of Coronavirus Chaos

As you know, the newest fear raging in the media today, is the coronavirus.

The latest statistics I could find are:

Coronavirus Cases Worldwide: 89,779
Deaths: 3,069
Recovered: 45,512

What I haven't seen saturating the news is that:

The average deaths per year for the flu is around 450,000
That’s, 37,500 per month
1,233 per day.

Statistically, the following number of people die per day:

26,283 from cancer
26,283 from heart disease
4,300 from diabetes
Over 2,000 from suicide
2,740 from mosquitoes
1,300 from people
137 from snakes

Friends, it goes without saying, there’s a whole lot of dying. Recently, right here in our little village, we lost two friends in two weeks, to cancer.

What’s the answer?

A couple days before his passing, I asked: “If this was a mic to the world, what would you say?”

He came to life and talked like a teenager after his first date. It had nothing to do with how much he made or how good he was at work. It was all about love for his wife and kids. You could see it in his eyes when he looked at his wife and the love leaked over. You could hear it in the quiver of his voice when he looked at his daughter and grandchild and smiled.

To sum it all up, my take away was this: “Get busy livin’—there’s not enough time to worry about dyin’”

The best way to combat dying is to get busy living.

Friends, the media feeds off frenzy.
The moguls manipulate the markets by fear.
Don’t fall prey to any.

Turn off the TV, put down the phone.
Wash your hands, go outside and shake hands with your neighbor.
Go downtown and buy something local.
Get your hands dirty by planting something that’ll grow, something you can eat.
Wash your heart and go to church, every week.
Pray, without ceasing.
Get to know The Creator of you and the universe.

When Jesus heard a bad report, He said:

“Do not be afraid; only believe…”  Luke 8:50

God’s response to us when we hear a bad report:

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
(Isaiah 41:10)

Formula for peace in the midst of chaos:

Don't worry about anything. Pray about everything.
With thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace of God, which passes all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7)
