Soon "Holy"

~
Dear friend, I bow my knees today
for this dream to come true
for you and I to bow before
The King and cry "Holy"

I Bowed on My Knees and Cried, "Holy"

Words and music by Jimmie Davis

I dreamed of a city called Glory,

So bright and so fair.

When I entered that gate I cried, "Holy"

The angels all met me there:

They carried me from mansion to mansion,

And oh what sights I saw.

But I said, "I want to see Jesus,

He's the One who died for all."

Chorus

Then I bowed on my knees and cried,

"Holy, Holy, Holy."

Then I clapped my hands and sang, "Glory,

Glory to the Son of God."

Then I bowed on my knees and cried,

"Holy, Holy, Holy."

Then I clapped my hands and sang, "Glory,

Glory to the Son of God."

I thought as I entered that city,

My friends all knew me well.

They showed me the streets of Heaven;

Such scenes too numerous to tell;

I saw Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,

Mark, Luke and Timothy.

But I said, "I want to see Jesus,

He's the One who died for me."

If that's the Jimmie Davis I think it was, he was governor of my state when I was about 10 years old. And he had another song, too, one about sunshine.

And thanks for that cool badge you have on the upper left. :)

Glynn, funny how both of those songs start out with a dream, only this time instead of singing about his sunshine his only sunshine who makes him happy when skies are grey,he's singing of the maker of the Sun. I think he found his true love who won't take his sunshine away. Oh, and thank you writing the cool book that badge in the upper left clicks to.

I so enjoyed that song some years ago. Gaithers, yes, but Ricky Van Shelton was the one I listened to "back then". Thanks for reminding us of the wonder of it. The focus.

Hi Caryjo, thanks, nice to see you again. The songs will soon be more than a memory and more than a dream, one day soon they'll be a dream come true.
