Dear friend, one day soon this song will come true
On that day I hope you're not here to read this
but just in case you do
I want you to know
I've gone to be with Jesus,
and now His face I see.
Yes soon The King is coming
I can almost hear Him telling
the chariots, "Be steady"
before they leap from Heavens Home
Oh how I pray you'll be ready
for His face to see
And together we'll say:
"He's coming for me."
The market place is empty
No more traffic in the streets
All builders tools are silent
No more time to harvest wheat
Busy housewives cease their labors
In the Courtroom no debate
Work on earth is all suspended
As the King comes through the gate.
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
I just heard the trumpet sounding
And now his face I see
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
Praise God
He's coming for me!
All the railroad road cars are empty
As they rattle down the tracks
In the newsroom no one watches
As machines type pointless facts
All the planes veer off their courses
No one sits at the controls
For the King of all the ages
Comes to claim eternal souls.
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
I just heard the trumpet sounding
And now his face I see
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
Praise God
He's coming for me!
Happy faces line the hallways
Those whose lives have been redeemed
Broken homes that He has mended
Those from prison He has freed
Little children and the aged
Hand in hand stand all aglow
Who were crippled, broken, ruined
Clad in garments white as snow.
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
I just heard the trumpet sounding
And now his face I see
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
Praise God
He's coming for me!
I can hear the chariots rumble
I can see the marching throng
The flurry of God's trumpet
Spell the end of sin and wrong
Regal robes are now enfolding
Heaven's grandstand all in place
Heaven's choir now assembled
Start to sing Amazing Grace.
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
I just heard the trumpet sounding
And now his face I see
Oh, the King is coming
The King is coming
Praise God
He's coming for me!

I started reading this and thought, "This sounds like a song from Bill Gaither."
Glynn, thanks for stopping by. Soon, I'll be looking forward to showing off your new book! Our pastor wove three old hymns into his sermon, I was a weeping wreck by the time he was done. This was one of the hymns and the other two are scheduled to post a few days from now. I couldn't sleep until I got them out of my head onto paper.
I love this song ... it lifts me though I haven't heard it for years.
Hi Sharon! Thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean...I hadn't heard it either, in years. But soon and very soon we are going to see The King.
Back in the '70s this was one of my favorite songs... and then forward a number of years. You make some nice posting choices. I'm glad some people who are young enough to have missed those gorgeous songs back then can hear them now and read the significant lyrics.
Caryjo, Classics never grow old and Love doesn't wear a watch, thank you for stopping by, always nice to see you.
